Kyushu Electric Power Co. (Japan) has announced plans to replace turbines in units No.3/4 of Genkai NPP.
The company has submitted relevant applications to the Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NRA) of Japan.
If the applications are approved, the turbine will be replaced at the third unit in 2027-2028, and at the fourth unit in 2028-2029. More specific dates will be announced later.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has been involved in the turbine replacement project. It is reported that it will supply turbines with 54-inch blades.
Yakutia is the fourth icebreaker actually built under Project 22220. Its service life is 40 years. As is the tradition, the icebreaker is named after a region adjacent to the Northern Sea Route.
