TEPCO has started dumping the ninth batch of Fukushima water into the ocean

TEPCO, the operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant (Japan), announced the beginning of the discharge into the ocean of the ninth batch of water stored at the site.

In Japan, such water is called ALPS treated water, that is, water purified by the ALPS system. It contains tritium and a number of other radioactive isotopes.

The dumping of the ninth batch will last until October 14, 2024. It is assumed that a total of 7.8 thousand tons of water will be drained into the ocean.
