CNNC, PUBLISHED 11.08.2024

The "Emerging Voices: Nuclear Science from Young Volunteers" activity, sponsored by the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), kicked off a publicity camp at the Swakopmund private school in Namibia on August 1.

During the camp, teenage volunteers was not only learners but also knowledge disseminators. With enthusiasm and confidence, they launched a science popularization and publicity lecture on nuclear energy.

Two volunteer representatives from China and Namibia explained the principles of nuclear energy and its applications in the daily life to the audience from different countries at a wide range of ages. They called for strict attitude and scientific management in the utilization of nuclear energy, which is widely believed to be a powerful engine driving energy development in the future.

The student representatives captivated every listener with fluent English and clear and accessible explanations of nuclear knowledge. Using vivid metaphors, they compared the atomic nucleus to a large room, with protons and neutrons like small soybeans working together to generate immense energy. School principal Hein Daiber interacted with students, creating a positive and lively classroom atmosphere.

With a brand new understanding of nuclear energy, teachers and students eagerly participated in the practice activity of making atomic nucleus models, which not only deepened their comprehension of nuclear science but also sparked their interest and enthusiasm for scientific exploration.

The CNNC's thematic science popularization activity not only promoted scientific knowledge and deepened public understanding of nuclear energy and its applications, but also introduced the corporation to the Namibian people.

Additionally, the organization of the nuclear science popularization activity also helped foreign children learn more about China's nuclear energy utilization and its positive impacts upon environment and society and further consolidated the cooperation between Namibia and China.

To develop the new quality productive forces, it is necessary to carry out reforms to eliminate obstacles to development. In 2023, CNNC adjusted the ownership of some of its subsidiaries and formed a unified industrial platform, aiming to promote the development of the nuclear technology application industry.
