Installation of the inner containment has started at El-Dabaa NPP Unit 1 Communications Unit of ROSATOM Engineering Division, PUBLISHED 11.03.2024 Installation of the inner containment has started at El-Dabaa NPP Unit 1 (Egypt). The first tier of inner containment will be installed in four stages. On March 8, specialists from Rosatom Engineering Division (ASE) started to install the first tier of inner containment of the reactor building at Unit 1 of El-Dabaa NPP in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The first tier of inner containment consists of 12 leaf-type segments, each weighing from 60 to 80 tons. The first tier of inner containment will be installed in four stages. On March 8, the specialists from ASE with cooperation of the engineers from NPPA installed the first three leaf-type segments. The works were preceded by concreting of the lower foundation plate. "Commencement of the inner containment installation is one of the milestones scheduled in 2024 for El-Dabaa NPP construction project and a clear evidence of the rapid progress of the construction works in our first nuclear power plant project in Africa. Implementation of these important works are a result of the coordinated teamwork between ASE and NPPA," noted Alexey Kononenko, ASE JSC Vice President - Director for the El-Dabaa NPP Construction Project. Other news: 414 nuclear units are operating in the world 57 units are under construction. HTR-PM starts commercial operation It is an important pathway for optimizing energy structure, ensuring reliable energy supply, and contributing to the dual carbon goal. Lepse Floating Technical Base Dismantlement Project has been successfully implemented To discharge spent nuclear fuel, the Lepse was placed in a specially designed and built onshore sheltering site. This made it possible to prevent any weather effects. |
Hero of the day Rosatom starts installation of the BREST-OD-300 4th generation reactor The steel reactor baseplate with the total weight of 165 tons has been installed.
