The Hungarian nuclear regulator has issued a license for the production of a melt localization device for Paks-2 NPP power units

On June 30, 2022, the Hungarian Atomic Energy Agency (UN) issued a permit to start work on the production of two melt localization devices for the new power units of the Paks-2 NPP.

The melt localization device (core catcher) is one of the most important elements of the passive safety system of Generation 3+ power units of Russian design.
