TVEL will supply fuel to Paks-2 till 2034

The Hungarian regulatory body has issued the renewal operation license for the second unit of Paks NPP.

The unit life was extended until December 31, 2034. This means that the TVEL company will supply fuel to NPP Paks until the end of the period of operation of plant in the framework of a contract concluded with the Hungarian company MVM NPP Paks in 1999.

As stated by the Director of the NPP Paks Istvan Hamvas, with the new increased fuel enrichment manufactured by a Russian company TVEL the duration of the fuel cycle at the Paks NPP Paks will be increased from 12 to 15 months.

The new fuel will increase energy production and reduce the cost of scheduled maintenance at the Paks NPP.
