BN-800 fast breeder project moves forward

The sodium tanks of first circuit are installed at the site of BN-800 fast breeder reactor (Beloyarskaya NPP, Russia). Moscow says this is a big step forward for 65.6 billion ruble project, which has been delayed for many years in the past.

The dimensions of the tank are worthy to be mentioned. The length is about 15 meters, and the diameter is some 4 meters. The weight of each tank is equal to 54 metric tones. The tanks are designed to keep the sodium for BN-800 first circuit.

The BN-800 fast breeder reactor would be critical in 2012. This is the biggest fast reactor in Russia, and it would be the most powerful reactor between the fast reactors in operation around the world.
