Smolensk NPP generated 10 billion kWh electricity since the beginning of the year

This is more 255 kWh than planned. This is a result of quality fulfillment of repair work and reliable operation of equipment and successful work of the whole Smolensk NPP's staff.

Smolensk NPP is the major power company in North-West region of Russia. Three units with VVER-1000 reactors of Smolensk NPP generate about 200 billion kWh electricity annually that is 1/7 part of total nuclear power production.

During many years of operation Smolensk NPP is one of the best NPP in Russian on economic, radiation and ecological indices. In 1992 Smolensk NPP generated a record output - 22 billion kWh electricity and it has been recognized "The best NPP of Russia". In 1993 Smolensk NPP took the first place in Rosenergoatom' competition. In 1999 Smolenk NPP was the best among three NPPs of Russia. In 2000 Smolensk NPP was the best in All-Russian competition "Russian organization of high social efficiency". In 2005 was the best in the safety culture among Russian NPPs.

In December 2007 Smolensk NPP will celebrate its 25-year jubilee since the day of physical start-up of the 1st unit.

During all operation period Smolensk NPP generated above 412 billion kWe electricity. Radiation backgrounds is no higher than normal and doesn't exceed natural level.
