Atomenergomash and Alstom will form joint venture for manufacture of turbines for NPP

Russian company "Atomenergomash" and French company "Alstom" were signed in Paris the constituent documents about creation in RF a joint venture (JV) for manufacture of slow-speed turbines for NPP, the press-secretary of Alstom office ion Russia Maria Korobova told.

"The official document about registration of JV "Alstom-Atomenergomash" in Russia were signed by CEO "Alstom" Patrick Kron and CEO "Atomenergomash" Kirill Komarov", - Korobova said.

Delegation of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency chairmanned by the head of FAEA Sergey Kirienko and other officials including Russian ambassador in France Alexander Avdeev attended at a ceremony of signature.

At the beginning of April Russian and French companies were signed the agreement about creation of JV in RF to produce equipment for NPP. The share of Russia in this project is 51%. JV will operate at site of ZIO-Podolsk engineering plant.

According to the agreement, Alstom will transfer a technology of slow-speed turbines and Arabel generators to JV and Russian "Atomenergomash" will transfer a casing, in which all necessary equipment will be installed.

The total volume of investments will be amount to EUR 300 million. Turbines produced by JV will be delivered to Russian NPP under construction within the federal target program for development of nuclear power and industry complex in Russia in 2007-2010 and in prospect up to 2015, as well as to NPP under construction abroad using Russian nuclear technologies.

According to Kirienko, JV should be at full power during the next three years.

Atomenergomash is a part of Rosatom formed with the aim of ensuring development, delivery, assembly and repair of NPP equipment, TVEL corporation is its parent company.

Alstom is the world leading manufacturer of equipment for power and transport engineering. The company produces steam turbine equipment for NPP, now 175 these systems are under construction in 12 countries of the world.
