According to the Press center of nuclear power and industry (Rosatom), the first tier of reactor containment was erected.

The specialists of Rostov construction and erection organization "MosSouzautoenrgomontazh" (Mos SAEM) fulfilled the important part of work on hermetic shell of reactor compartment of the 2nd unit. The first tier of reactor containment assembled on the ground was raised by means of two cranes with weight of 100 and 75 tons. The weight of metal structure exceeds 90 tons.

The second stage of work is the erection of the second tier of containment ahead. The weigh of this tier is approximately 70 tons.

Today about 80% of work have been already fulfilled. In July this tier is planned to be fixed.

On March 20, 2025, the first concrete was poured for the foundation of the reactor building at Unit 4 of Leningrad NPP-2. The construction is part of the capacity replacement program at the plant, a subsidiary of Rosenergoatom, Rosatom Electric Power Division.
Representatives from the Belarusian NPP, El Dabaa NPP (Egypt), and Rooppur NPP (Bangladesh) participated in the first concrete ceremony via videoconference. These countries have power units with reference Russian VVER-1200 reactors that they have constructed or are constructing with the support of Rosatom.
