NRC completed the publication of SER volumes SER for Yucca Mountain

AtomInfo.Ru, PUBLISHED 03.02.2015

The nuclear regulatory commission has published the second and fifth volume of the SER - safety evaluation report- for the Yucca Mountain repository.

Thus, regulators have finished the publication of the report, which consists of five volumes.

The сommission has not found for the proposed repository any serious drawbacks from a safety point.

However, the NRC noted that it could not give his authorization to begin construction of the repository, as the department of energy has not fully addressed the issues of land and water rights for the area and also due to unavailability of the EIA, which must be drawn up by the DoE.
