US, Russia Urge Iran to Cooperate With IAEA RIA Novosti, PUBLISHED June 10, 2013 A group of international mediators on Iran’s controversial nuclear program urged Tehran on Wednesday to collaborate with the UN nuclear agency and provide complete information on its nuclear activities. The United States, Russia, China, France and Britain – the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – plus Germany issued a joint statement at a meeting of the 35-nation governing board of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna expressing concern over the fact that 10 rounds of negotiations between Iran and the IAEA had not produced any results. Western powers say Iran is attempting to build an atomic weapon, but Tehran insists its program has entirely peaceful purposes and has decried international pressure as unacceptable interference in its sovereign affairs.
