Nano-structured conductor production launched with participation of ROSATOM Public Relations Directorate of JSC TVEL, PUBLISHED July 16, 2012 The SPE NANOELECTRO (a project company of RUSNANO and A.A. Bochvar VNIINM) held a launching ceremony of the production process of nano-structured conductors, which are entirely new composite electrical items combining high conductivity and strength. A total amount of investments in the project will be slightly above one billion rubles, including co-financing on the part of RUSNANO at RUB450 million and JSC TVEL at RUB570 million. In the framework of implementation of the first project stage, by 2014 the new enterprise will be producing up to 50 tons of super-cables per year. In future it is planned to move to a large0series commercial production, which will allow the project company to occupy up to 15% of the world market of high-strength cables. “Recently, the new class of materials, which particle size does not exceed 100 nanometers, has attracted an increased attention, Olga Shpichko, Managing Director of RUSNANO, noted. “The interest is easy to explain, because these materials obtain a set of properties, which are substantially different from that of common large-grain materials, and, in a number of cases, open entirely new prospective in design and development of various devices and products. In particular, today there is a great demand in materials which possess high strength and conductivity at the same time. These are the materials that are developed by SPE NANOELECTRO. Its products’ properties directly relate to transition to the state of nano-structure.” “Our technology allows producing long-length cables based on cupper and niobium of both small and large cross-sections that doesn’t have analogues either in Russia or abroad, JSC TVEL Senior Vice President Vladimir Rozhdestvensky noted. “The uniqueness of the company’s developments is backed up by patents and know-how in the area of production of high-strength, high-electric conductivity materials. I would like to note also that the project to produce the new class of electrical cables is another result of the cooperation between TVEL and RUSNANO in the sphere of high-technology productions. It is planned that by 2014, when this production reaches its design capacity, an annual volume of sales proceeds will be about RUB885 million.” Topics: Rosatom Other news: Istanbul to Host Next Iran-Six Nuclear Talks July 3 A new meeting of the Group 5+1 over Iran has been agreed.
