Russia will deliver nuclear fuel to all Ukrainian NPPs

The Russian TVEL corporation will deliver in 2007 the nuclear fuel for all Ukrainian nuclear power plants. Totally, 17 deliveries will be provided this year for two VVER-400 reactors and several VVER-1000 reactors.

The total amount of contract price is not published because this is the classified information.

Later this year. the leadership of the Russian and Ukrainian nuclear industries is going to discuss the conditions of fuel delivery after 2010, as well as the creation of the "price corridor" to damp any possible boost in the uranium prices.

Balakovo-3 and Balakovo-4 units are online

Two units of the Balakovo NPP were restarted at May 5-6 after fixing of failures of electrical switch-gears.

Earlier Balakovo-3 and Balakovo-4 were shutdown due to the electrical equipment failure. The transformer of the ORU-500 switch-gear was damaged. This equipment is located outside of the reactor site, and its mishaps do not lead to any increasing of radioactivity.

The Balakovo NPP press service confirms that the radiation background near the plant does not exceeded the natural values.

Atomstroyexport will float a loan for Belene NPP construction in Bulgaria

JSC Atomstroyexport is planning to float a loan for 1.5 bln roubles in order to invite the funds for equipment manufacturing for the Belene nuclear power plant in Bulgaria.

Totally, 1.5 mln bonds will be issued with the price 1000 roubles per one bond. The duration of bond unqualified call is supposed to be equal to four years.

The Belene NPP construction has been started in the Soviet era and stopped after fall of communist government of Bulgaria. Last year, the JSC Atomstroyexport won the international bid for construction of two VVER-1000 units here.
