"The visit to Akkuyu NPP is a very useful experience for the members of the Turkish Committee of the World Energy Council. Getting the implementation process of the first nuclear power plant in Turkiye helped to better understand the importance of nuclear energy for the energy transition in our country. Akkuyu NPP will provide reliable energy supply for decades and will help achieve Turkiye's goals in the field of low-carbon generation. Nuclear energy is an industry with long–term prospects, it unites many professional areas. Therefore, it is especially important that young Turkish specialists started working on the project and accumulate technical knowledge already at the initial stage of its implementation." Pakize Sule Serin, a participant in the Young Energy Leaders Program of the Turkish National Committee of the World Economic Council, stressed. "The visit to the Akkuyu NPP site allowed us to learn how the project, which is strategically important for reliable energy supply to Turkiye, is being implemented and to communicate directly with the specialists employed here. The support of local suppliers and the creation of workplaces through the project have also the great importance for the Turkish energy industry. Nuclear energy requires long-term planning and opens up opportunities for decades ahead. Increasing the share of reliable low-carbon sources in electricity generation is of great importance for Turkiye's sustainable energy future.
