417 nuclear units are operating in the world, 73 units are under construction

The current number of the operating nuclear power units in the world is equal to 417. These data are presented in the PRIS database supported by the IAEA.

Another 73 units have the status of the being built one.

Since the beginning of 2026, two new units have been connected to the grid - Taipingling-1 and Sanao-1 (China).

Two units have been restart after suspended operations - Tarapur-1/2 (both India).

The construction was started on six new units - Xuwei-1 (China), Kursk-2-3 (Russia), Paks-5 (Hungary), Kaiga-5/6 (both India) and Darlington SMR1 (Canada).
