Iran and Russia are working on the Hormoz NPP project - ambassador

RIA Novosti, PUBLISHED 28.10.2025

Work on the Hormoz NPP project in Iran is already underway, its concept has been defined, and the preparation of the first contract is next.

This is reported by TASS with reference to the Russian Ambassador to Tehran Alexei Dedov.

"Practical work is already underway within the framework of the high-capacity NPP project: the project concept has been defined, a roadmap for contracting has been developed and agreed upon by the parties, and the preparation of the first contract (for the development of project documentation) is in the process," he said.

As the Ambassador noted, the parties are simultaneously working on the project of low-power nuclear power plants.

"Consultations are currently underway to coordinate an intergovernmental protocol on cooperation in the construction of the low-power nuclear power plants in Iran. The signing of this document will be the starting point for the beginning of the active phase of the implementation of this project," added Dedov.
