CNNC radioisotope RandD and production base secures radiation safety license

CNNC, PUBLISHED 08.09.2025

The radioisotope R&D and production base under CNNC Chengdu Gaotong Isotope has successfully obtained a radiation safety license, enabling it to produce and sell radioisotopes.

Spanning 58,600 square meters, the base features 13 production lines, including one for Carbon-14. Once completed, it will produce over 100,000 radioisotope sources annually.

Aiming to become Asia's leading innovation hub for radiation sources, the base will consolidate China's major R&D and production resources, offering more than 70 high-quality products to the international market.

It will also provide services like source recycling and irradiation, contributing CNNC's strength to the application of radiation technologies across various sectors such as industry, agriculture, medicine, national defense, and aerospace.

In the future, CNNC will advance the construction of high standard projects to further expand its production capacity, and enrich its product portfolio with new production lines so as to meet market demands.

At the same time, the company will foster new quality productive forces, increase investment in R&D, and focus on breakthroughs in new radioisotopes and cutting-edge nuclear technology applications.

Driven by innovation, these efforts aim to upgrade industrial technologies and help elevate China's nuclear technology application industry to a global level.
