South Korea to include the construction of four SMR in plans

AtomInfo.Ru, PUBLISHED 21.10.2024

South Korea will include the construction of four small modular reactors in its energy development plans.

As reported in the South Korean media, this was stated by the presidential adviser on science and technology Park Sang-wook. Official information on this issue will be published before the end of 2024.

The adviser noted that the small reactors proposed for construction will be "grouped to provide an output (of electricity) comparable to large nuclear power plants."

He also added that the capacity of each of the small reactors will be in the range from 170 to 350 MWe.

Recall that a small modular SMART reactor project is being developed in South Korea, but its electrical capacity was previously announced as about 100 MWe.
