CNNC President meets with ITER Director-General in Beijing

CNNC, PUBLISHED 19.09.2024

Shen Yanfeng, president of the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), held a meeting with Pietro Barabaschi, director-general of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), in Beijing on September 3. They exchanged views and reached consensus on further cooperation over the ITER programs.

Shen said that the CNNC is looking forward to further deepening its comprehensive cooperation with the ITER over technology research and development, human resource cooperation, and the sharing of research facilities as well as platforms, exchanging nuclear technology development experience, and making greater contributions to the development of nuclear fusion energy technology.

Barabaschi spoke highly of the CNNC's outstanding performance in the building of the ITER projects, showed thanks to the CNNC for its assistance in terms of engineering technology and human resources, and conveyed the willingness to further deepen bilateral cooperation, seek win-win cooperation, and work together for the research and development of global nuclear fusion.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Barabaschi paid a visit to an exhibition hall of the CNNC's Hualong One, a domestically designed third-generation nuclear reactor
