Scientists from CNNC Visit ITER

CNNC, PUBLISHED 07.07.2024

On June 26, young scientists from China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) visited the ITER in Manosque. They met with Pietro Barabaschi, director general of ITER, and Luo Delong, deputy director general of ITER, and had discussions with the team of CNPE consortium.

ITER is the world's largest international cooperation project, involving 35 countries including China, the European Union, India, Japan, Russia, South Korea and the United States. This nuclear fusion experimental reactor draws on the principles of energy generation of the sun.

China has played an important role in the ITER. The tasks undertaken by CNPE consortium so far have all been delivered on time and with high quality, showcasing the comprehensive capabilities of China's nuclear industry.

This visit to ITER has planted a seed, inspiring our young scientists to focus more on international fusion research.

To develop the new quality productive forces, it is necessary to carry out reforms to eliminate obstacles to development. In 2023, CNNC adjusted the ownership of some of its subsidiaries and formed a unified industrial platform, aiming to promote the development of the nuclear technology application industry.
