Xudapu unit 3 completes dome installation CNNC, PUBLISHED 01.08.2023 On July 25th, Unit 3 of the Xudapu Nuclear Power Project under the subsidiary of CNNC, China's northernmost nuclear power station and one of its key energy projects, completed dome lifting and positioning, entering the crucial installation phase. The steel containment is an important barrier of the reactor building, and its dome ensures its integrity and sealing. The dome lifting is a significant milestone in the construction of nuclear power projects. This operation involves lifting the entire structure, containing multiple items, and high precision, with a total weight of 739.016 tons. The entire process was carried out safely, orderly with the positioning accuracy controlled within±3 millimeters. Upon completion, this project is expected to play a significant role in ensuring China's energy security. The two units are expected to generate over 16 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per day, which is equivalent to saving 5.7 million tons of coal and reducing CO2 emissions by 16.8 million tons annually. The reduction equals to the carbon absorption of 110,000 hectares of forest in one year. ROSATOM starts testing MOX fuel for VVER reactors For irradiation in the MIR reactor, 21 MOX fuel rods had been manufactured. ROSATOM plans to construct SHELF-M reactor plant in Chukotka The land-based small nuclear power plant with the SHELF-M reactor is planned to be commercially operational by 2030. |
Hero of the day Unit 2 of the Belarusian NPP included the unified energy system of the Republic of Belarus The grid connection at the reactor power of 40% of the nominal one confirms the availability of all its systems and equipment for electricity generation. In the coming days, specialists will increase the reactor power up to 50% and carry out a series of dynamic tests. INTERVIEW
