India started to create a project of its own 900 MWe light water reactor

India began work on the project of the light water reactor with a power of 900 MWe, according to "Indian Express".

The newspaper quotes R. B. Grover, member of the Atomic Energy Commission of India, who confirmed that work on the creation of the detailed design of 900 MWe light water reactor is started but it is on the early stages.

The specialists of the BARC and the NPCIL are working on the project.

For the purposes of enriching uranium for future Indian light water reactor it is planned to build a enrichment plant in Chitradurga, state Karnataka.
