Regulators have approved a plan of 24 points for Fukushima Daiichi AtomInfo.Ru, PUBLISHED 27.12.2014 Commissioners of the Japanese NRA approved December 24, 2014 as proposed by the technical staff of the Agency a list of things that must be done on an emergency nuclear power plant Fukushima Daiichi over the next five years. The list includes pumping contaminated water out of trenches at site, unloading fuel from storage pools of units ##1-3 and other events. The list consists of 24 items. The priorities are the pumping of 11 thousand tons from the trenches near the turbine building of second and third units, the unloading of irradiated fuel from the cooling pool at unit 3 and the planning of countermeasures against earthquakes and tsunamis. In addition, the plant must solve the problem of water purification from tritium. The ALPS system used for water purification from radionuclides is unable to remove the tritium. Accordingly, the water that has passed through the ALPS, cannot be considered uncontaminated. Until the end of the year the list will be transferred to the company TEPCO and involved agencies, and local authorities of the Prefecture of Fukushima for discussion and approval. Topics: NPP Fukushima Daiichi Other news: Vermont Yankee closure will negatively affect the economy of the region The plant will be closed at the end of December. TEPCO has unloaded all assemblies from spent fuel pool of Fukushima Daiichi-4 The unloading was launched on November 18, 2013 and ended on 22 December 2014. CEFR completes 100% power test The reactor was working during 144 hours. |
