Atomenergomash takes the lead in the fundamental efficiency rating of the Russian companies in 2012 Media Center of Atomenergomash, PUBLISHED 18.11.2013 Atomenergomash (machine engineering division of ROSATOM) climbed to the first line of the fundamental efficiency rating of Russia’s 150 largest companies in the real sector of economy in 2012, which was produced by the Interfax-ERA environmental and energy rating agency. The rating is calculated basing on the product volumes produced per each unit of consumed energy and natural resources, as well as proceeding from capability of the company’s process equipment to operate with lesser impact on the environment. The rating also takes account of the business transparency and trends in the companies’ efficiency changes since 2000. "In the years that the environmental ratings have been on the market, they have already become an indispensible element in its regulation - an objective barometer of the actual efficiency of Russian business. Our approaches to compiling the methodology of the rating fully meet the latest foreign standards for nonfinancial reporting," Director of Interfax-ERA Alexander Martynov said. “Nuclear machine engineering, no doubt, is a high technology and energy efficient industry distinct in high safety standards for humans and environment,” he said. “Atomenergomash has systemically worked to improve energy efficiency of the productions. In 2011 at all large entities of the holding an energy survey was conducted that found out objects where energy resources were not used in a mindful manner; it laid the basis for implementation of energy efficiency improvement programs of enterprises in 2011-2012. Owing to implementation of the programs, in 2012 energy consumption was reduced by 21.26% as compared to 2009,” Vladimir Razin, Deputy Director General and Director for productions at Atomenergomash, said. “For us, the high appraisal of the work results by the experts is a binding fact that motivates to keep up the pace of improvement of energy efficiency and further reduction of impact to the environment,” he added. Atomenergomash implements the policy of efficiency improvement at all its enterprises. This is achieved through application of uniform approaches and holding-wise duplication of the best practices of individual enterprises. In the framework of the energy efficiency improvement program the refurbishment of lighting systems, replacement of heating piping insulation, enhancement of boiler efficiency were carried out at one of the largest production sites, ZiO-Podolsk (Podolsk). These lead to reduction of natural gas consumption and noxious atmospheric releases. At Petrozavodskmash (Karelia) new state-of-the-art energy-efficient equipment was installed and engineering utilities were refurbished. Low-cost and organizational measures largely contribute in reduction of energy consumption. For instance, at Petrozavodskmash the liquid fuel-fired furnaces were converted to natural gas to reduce a burden to the environment. The rating results are posted on the Interfax-ERA website. Hero of the day Unfortunately, we live in this age of narrow political thinking. Each of our politicians think how to survive, whether he will be the next convocation of the parliament or the government or not. INTERVIEW
