Iran Uses Nuclear Talks to Buy Time for Bomb – Israeli PM

RIA Novosti, PUBLISHED March 14, 2013

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday Tehran is “buying time” in the renewed talks with the world powers in an effort to continue its nuclear activities.

"My impression is that the only thing achieved by these talks is stalling. Iran intends to continue enriching fissile material for a nuclear bomb," Ynetnews website quoted Netanyahu as saying.

Iranian media reported on Sunday the Islamic state is building around 3,000 advanced centrifuges, which are used to enrich uranium. The news is likely to add to Western concerns of Iran’s controversial nuclear program

Talks between Iran and six world powers on the Islamic Republic’s disputed nuclear program ended in Almaty, Kazakhstan without agreement on Wednesday, but the two sides pledged to hold further meetings in the coming weeks.

The six world powers - Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States - had proposed scaling back sanctions against Iran in exchange for the closure of its underground Fordo enrichment facility and an undertaking to halt the enrichment of uranium to 20 percent.

A level of enrichment greater than 20 percent is the very minimum needed to make a crude nuclear device, scientists say, although most nuclear bombs use the heavy metal enriched to 90 percent.

Western powers say Iran is attempting to build an atomic weapon, but Tehran insists its program has entirely peaceful purposes and has decried international pressure as unacceptable interference in its sovereign affairs.

Not quite so. The authors of the concept, which was difficult to be realized in practice, turned to a clearer concept of a standing wave reactor (TP-1) that in principle allows finding the solution to the tasks stated for TWRs.
