Differences Over Venue Delay Iran Plus Six Meeting - Lavrov

RIA Novosti, PUBLISHED January 28, 2013

Iran and Western powers should stop behaving “like little children” and agree on a venue for future nuclear talks, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday.

“The meeting has indeed been postponed and, to my deep regret, the reason is disappointing: some of our partners and the Iranian side failed to agree on where exactly we should gather, in which country, in which city,” Lavrov said.

The minister added that the Russian side is ready to attend nuclear talks in any country and as soon as possible.

“We are convinced that the essence of our talks is much more important than the atmosphere that this or that venue might create, and we expect that common sense will prevail and we will stop being capricious, like little children,” he said.

Media reports earlier suggested that the new round of talks between Iran and the group of international negotiators on the Iranian nuclear program had been scheduled for February.

In 2012, the six nations involved in the nuclear talks (Russia, the United States, China, France, the United Kingdom and Germany) held three rounds of talks with Iran - in Istanbul on April 14, in Baghdad on May 23-24 and in Moscow on June 18-19. None of these meetings lead to a breakthrough.

Not quite so. The authors of the concept, which was difficult to be realized in practice, turned to a clearer concept of a standing wave reactor (TP-1) that in principle allows finding the solution to the tasks stated for TWRs.
