OECD Accession Priority For Russia - Medvedev

RIA Novosti, PUBLISHED January 20, 2013

Russia’s accession to Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is a priority in Moscow's economic policy, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday.

“After our country joined the World Trade Organization, this accession [to the OECD] is our most important priority, which we take into account when we take our domestic decisions and amend our legislation,” Medvedev said at a meeting with OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurria.

‘We, of course, are very interested in this process proceeding as quickly as possible. We are confronted with technical difficulties and the position of some countries. Nonetheless, we expect this process to be completed,” the Russian premier said.

The OECD, set up in 1961, is an international organization uniting 34 countries, aimed at solving social and economic development problems. The OECD is one of the world's largest and most reliable sources of comparable statistics and economic and social data.
