RIA Novosti, PUBLISHED November 05, 2012

The Skolkovo Instiute of Science and Technology on Thursday signed a technology cooperation agreement with two Russian defense companies and Intel Corp.

The institute will cooperate with the Uralvagonzavod tank maker and the Oboronprom machine builder in developing new materials, as well as R&D machine manufacturing projects, while Intel will team up with Skolkovo on IT programs.

Oboronprom’s General Director Dmitry Lelikov did not rule out that some of this technology will be dual use.

“This is, above all, an opportunity to gain access to international achievements in fundamental science,” he said, adding that Russian defense industry specialists will take an active role in these research projects.
