Rusatom Overseas head Alexey Kalinin held a speech at Platts-2012 European Nuclear Power Annual Conference Press-service of JSC Rusatom Overseas, PUBLISHED July 01, 2012 7th Platts Annual European Nuclear Power conference was held in London on June 25–26, 2012. At this conference Alexey Kalinin, Director of International Business Department of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM and Director General of Rusatom Overseas, gave a presentation on the topic “Nuclear Power Development in Europe: ROSATOM perspective”. According to Mr. Kalinin, for the nuclear power industry nowadays financial crisis has become one of the fundamental challenges, which all the market players should be prepared to meet. He also told about the State Corporation ROSATOM, mentioning it as a responsible vendor, ready to meet the modern challenges of the volatile business environment. Conference participants had a possibility to learn in detail about ROSATOM’s operations and projects, as well as about ROSATOM’s integrated offer in nuclear engineering, which includes a wide range of products and services – from uranium extraction to building nuclear power plants, developing legal frameworks, training personnel, and attracting investments. The conference was attended by the UK Government representatives - Charles Hendry, Minister of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change and Mark Higson, Chief Executive Officer of the Office for Nuclear Development. Among the participants were also the top-managers of the leading energy sector enterprises, including AREVA, Westinghouse, EDF, E.ON, C(EZ and Rolls-Royce, as well as policy makers, regulators, financiers, NGOs, and observers. The participants discussed the current state and the prospects of the European nuclear energy sector, as well as the possibilities to unite the common efforts to rebuild the reputation of nuclear power as a safe and secure energy source.
