Uranium Plant Boss Held on Bribe Charges

RIA Novosti, PUBLISHED June 22, 2012

The director of a Siberian uranium enrichment plant and two of his deputies have been detained on suspicion of graft, state-run nuclear power corporation Rosatom spokesman Sergei Novikov said on Friday.

The incident was “unrelated to the plant’s uranium enrichment activity,” he said without elaborating.

Plant director Vladimir Korotkevich was detained as he accepted a bribe from a supplier, Novikov said.

The Siberian division of Russia’s Investigative Committee declined to comment on the case.

One more round of talks will be held in Moscow on June 18-19 in an attempt to find common ground. There is no reason to dramatize the situation.
