Iran accuses U.S. of pressuring IAEA

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that the U.S. put pressure on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and noted that the organization is driven by political considerations in the analysis of the Islamic nuclear program, Iran’s Press TV reported on Saturday.

Earlier it was reported that the IAEA is preparing to reveal new intelligence on Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program next week.

“If the IAEA is impartial it should resist the pressures exerted by certain countries and do its job professionally,” Iran’s former nuclear chief Salehi said.

“The Americans raised documents like this in the past: the Niger scandal,” he said. “The documents were used as a pretext to invade Iraq,” Salehi added. “After killing tens of thousands of innocent people, it was discovered that it was a forged document.”

The United States and its Western allies accuse Iran of developing nuclear weapons under the cover of peaceful nuclear energy program. Tehran denies all the charges, saying that its nuclear program is focused on the country's electricity needs.
