Strong quake forces crippled nuke plant to evacuate employees RIA Novosti, PUBLISHED April 12, 2011 Employees of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant have been ordered to evacuate the premises after a 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit the region on Tuesday morning, Kyodo news agency reported. Tuesday morning's earthquake hit the already devastated northeastern Japanese prefecture of Fukushima and was felt in the country's capital of Tokyo. The U.S. Geological Survey registered the quake at a magnitude of 6.0. No tsunami warning has been released, however, according to Kyodo, several small tidal waves may ensue.
