Atomstroyexport JSC became an official member of the Czech Nuclear Forum

On the 10th of November 2009 an agreement on joining of “Atomstroyexport” JSC to the Czech Nuclear Forum was signed. In Prague (Czech Republic) within the frames of the meeting of this organization the Russian nuclear technologies were presented under participation of assessors of “Atomstroyexport” JSC (ASE JSC), OKB “GIDROPRESS”, OJSC “TVEL”, RRC “Kurchatov Institute”, VNIIAES and OJSC “Atomenergoproject” (Saint-Petersburg). The reports, which were presented by Russian experts, included detailed information on the current conditions and development prospects of ASE projects with VVER reactors under consideration of demands and trends of the world market.

The reports of Russian specialists aroused much interest caused both by long term cooperation between Russia and the Czech Republic in the nuclear technologies field, and by the participation of the consortium consisting of Skoda JS a.s., “Atomstroyexport” JSC and OJSC OKB “Gidropress” in the tender for construction of Units 3 and 4 of “Temelin” NPP as well. The bid offer of the consortium - the European NPP project MIR-1200 (Modernized International Reactor). At the end of October the consortium submitted documents for attestation to the Czech owner CEZ.

The partner company Skoda JS a.s. also took part in the work of the Czech Nuclear Forum with the report “NPP project MIR-1200: setup of the consortium and suppliers’ cooperation, project management, resource base of the main project parties”.

It was noted in the scope of the presentation at the Czech Nuclear Forum, that the Russian nuclear industry is open for the partnership with the European companies – leading companies in nuclear construction and engineering. “Atomstroyexport” JSC highly appreciates the potential of the Czech industry and is ready for maximum use of its potentialities for construction of Units 3 and 4 of “Temelin” NPP. At the implementation of this project the localization in Czechia of up to 70% of equipment supply, works and services is being planned. Already at the qualification stage the Russian-Czech consortium attracted more than 20 Czech principal suppliers of equipment and services for the nuclear industry. Also while implementing this project the companies of several countries of the European Union are assumed to be involved, including Italy and France.

Considering that the Czech companies possess a long term and positive experience in operating of NPP with VVER reactors, manufacture a considerable part of equipment and spare parts for these reactors, using of reactors of such type in new power units shall ensure the energy independence of the country.

Note: MIR-1200 project meets the requirements of the owner, possesses technology, basic equipment and fuel references. MIR-1200 project is basing on the experience in operating the NPP with VVER reactors in the volume of over 1290 reactor years. The nuclear power plants, built in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Finland, Hungary and other European countries on the base of Russian light water reactor technologies possess one of the best reliability and cost efficiency factors in Europe and world across.

MIR-1200 meets the international rules and recommendations of IATA, it is remarkable for its improved safety and technical and economic features. In Russia four similar NPP units are being construed at the sites of Leningradskaya NPP-2, Novovoronezhskaya NPP-2. Nowadays MIR-1200 project has been suggested for implementation in Finland (one power unit) and Turkey (four power units), as well as at the site of Baltiiskaya NPP in the region of Kaliningrad of RF (two power units).

The Czech NPP “Temelin” is well known to “Atomstroyexport” JSC - today the company is rendering engineering and consulting services at the site of the plant according to three contracts for operation of three active NPP units.
