Serguey Shmatko may leave Atomstroyexport

The Russian mass-media speculate about what would happen to the leadership of the Atomstroyexport (ASE) nuclear company, if its president Serguey Shmatko will leave his position.

According to an anonymous industry insider, Serguey Shmatko could be appointed as an officer for nuclear power plant construction in the Atomenergoprom, newly established public sector company. The question is who will replace Shmatko on his current position in the ASE?

The minority shareholders insist that new ASE president shall be selected by Gazprombank rather than by federal nuclear agency. Their reasons are simple. The Gazprombank is going to invest its machine-building actives to the ASE in exchange for extra-shares, and the financiers are interesting to take the control of nuclear company in their hands.

JSC Atomstroyexport - is a leading Russian company, implementing intergovernmental agreements for the construction of nuclear power objects abroad. After commissioning Tianwan NPP in China, Atomstroyexport pursues its liabilities on the construction of Kudankulam NPP in India, Bushehr NPP in Iran and Belene NPP in Bulgaria.
