The most probable site for first nuclear power plant in Byelorussia would be so called Kukshinovskaya site to the north-west from Mogiliov city.
Up to now, two sites are considered as the possible place of the first Byelorussian NPP construction - Kukshinovskaya and Krasnopolyanskaya. Tow more sites, namely Verkhdvinskaya and Ostrovetskaya - are chosen as the reserve ones.
The former primary site was the Krasnopolyanskaya site; however, the experts were not satisfied by the conditions of the soils here.
The preparatory works on the Kukshinovskaya site started in September 2007.
