On 29 of August, 2007 the President of JSC Atomstroyexport Mr. Serguey Shmatko and the General Director of JSC PVO Almaz-Antey Concern Mr. Vladislav Menschikov signed the Memorandum of cooperation on the power market for construction of power generation facilities (including NPP).

Today's increasing demand for electric power and new generating supply is a serious challenge for all leading world companies in the area of the power engineering industry.

Atomstroyexport is interested in the creation of conditions for the successful implementation of Russian projects of NPP construction both in Russia and abroad, also by means of active development of innovation technologies, support of research and technical potential and involving of highly developed enterprises of the defense industry complex in the nuclear power engineering.

PVO Almaz-Antey Concern is one of the largest companies of the world military-industrial establishment. The Concern is interested in the steady development of its enterprises, the gradual raising of their research, technical and economical potential as well as in the development and production of the advanced technology products for the power engineering (including nuclear power) which would be competitive on the domestic and foreign markets.

According to the Memorandum, JSC Atomstroyexport and PVO Almaz-Antey Concern are going to combine the advantages of each company for the joint implementation of investment projects in the power engineering that will promote the development of the leading defense industry enterprises for the power engineering needs and for the achievement of synergetic effect.

On 4 March, an intergovernmental agreement on principles of cooperation in the construction of a SMR (small modular reactor) in Myanmar was signed during the state visit of Myanmar leadership to Russia.
