On July 25-26 the deputy chief engineers of all 10 Russian NPPs met at Kursk NPP to sum the results of NPP operation in the first half of the year and to plan new tasks for the second half of the year.

The heads of Technical directorate, Central Dispatch Administration, General inspection of Rosenergoatom and the representatives of Atomenergoproject, VNIIAES, NIKIET and RSC Kurchatov institute took part in the meeting.

The participants discussed some issues, in particular concerning Rosenergoatom's activity on the competitive market of electricity, heard the reports of analysis of violations at NPPs during the first half of 2007, as well as the results of inspection of nuclear safety conditions of NPPs.

The first deputy technical director of Rosenergoatom Yury Kopiev noted in his speech: "In January-NPPs of Russia generated 78 billion 927,2 million kWh electricity that is 100,4% of planned and 102,2% of the last year level. Coefficient of installed capacity use (KIUM) is 78,2% in comparison with 76,5% in 2006. Incidents with radiation consequences were absent. Radiation emissions were essentially below standards", - he emphasized.

The participants expressed the satisfaction with the results of NPP operation in the first half of the year and planned to carry out some measures for enhancing safety and reliability of NPP operation during the second half of 2007.

On 4 March, an intergovernmental agreement on principles of cooperation in the construction of a SMR (small modular reactor) in Myanmar was signed during the state visit of Myanmar leadership to Russia.
