STUK specialists visited Kola NPP

From July 9 till July 12 specialists of STUK (Finnish supervising company in nuclear power), Hansabaltic Oy and Takamaki Oy companies visited Kola NPP and met with the representatives of Kola NPP. This meeting was held in accordance with Agreement for cooperation between STUC and Rosenergoatom and Agreement for cooperation between Kola NPP and STUK on the program of Rostechnadzor (the federal body for ecological, technological and nuclear supervision).

Specialists were considered two main issues of cooperation at the meeting.

The first issue is an information exchange between Rostechnadzor inspection departments of Kola NPP and Leningrad NPP and STUC inspectors. The exchange of experience is fulfilled on the basis of Agreement for bilateral cooperation.

The project for transfer information of quick look events and measures for improving safety of these NPPs was launched at the beginning of 90-ies and it successfully works at present. STUK plans to prepare the standard report draft and Rostechnadzor will consider this draft taking into account Rosenergoatom interests.

The second issue considered during meeting concerned the development of the technique of measurements for monitoring of irradiated nuclear fuel at Kola NPP (by SFAT instrument). The participants adopted a resolution that the Finnish party would organize the delivery of SFAT to Kola NPP for carrying out the demonstrational measurements of irradiated nuclear fuel in the 4th quarter.
