Kirienko will head Atomenergoprom

The prime minister of Russia Michael Fradkov signed the decree of the membership of Atomenergoprom's Board of directors and approved the Rules and Regulations of the holding. Rosatom head Sergey Kirienko will head Atomenergoprom.

According to Rosatom press-secretary Sergey Novikov, the members of the Board of directors are Igor Borovkov, director of the Russian government's Defence Industry and High Technologies Department, Tatiana Elphimova, Rosatom deputy head, Ivan Kamenskikh and Vladimir Travin.

Novikov told that Travin will discharge of his functions as Rosatom deputy head soon.

On April 27, 2007 president of Russia Vladimir Putin signed the Decree on "Reorganization of nuclear power and industry complex of Russia" provided a cardinal reform of nuclear branch. Atomenergoprom - state own holding with vertical-integrated structure combining all enterprises from uranium mining and enrichment till manufacturing fuel for NPP- will be finally founded by 2008.

"All strategic decisions concerning the parties of JSC "Atomenergoprom" are subject to negotiation with the RF president", - Kirienko explained.

Earlier Kirienko said that the necessity of this integration is due to that "the scattered enterprises of the whole nuclear power and industry complex can fail to realize a new large-scale construction of nuclear units in Russian ant they already can't compete on the international market".
