Turbogenerator was shut down at Kursk NPP again

According to press center of Rosenergoatom, on July 3 at 7:32 turbogenerator No4 of the second unit of Kursk NPP was shut down. Automatic safety shutdown system stopped the forth turbogenerator due to short circuit.

No violations of safety rules at Kursk NPP have been revealed. Power of unit 2 was decreased down to 500 MW. Total power of Kursk NPP is 3010 MW.

"Radiation background at Kursk NPP and adjacent territories are at the level corresponding to normal operation of units and doesn't exceed natural background values",- Rosenergoatom's press-release informs.

On June 25, 2007 the third unit of Kursk NPP was shut down.

On 4 March, an intergovernmental agreement on principles of cooperation in the construction of a SMR (small modular reactor) in Myanmar was signed during the state visit of Myanmar leadership to Russia.
