A tower crane standing between the reactor and turbine building was dismantled during the weekend and the more a thousand workers were able to continue their work at the Olkiluoto 3 construction site.
The Olkiluoto 3 construction site was closed as a precautionary measure last Friday when a routine inspection revealed small cracks in the base of a crane.
Dismantling of the tower crane was completed after noon on Sunday 28 January and the access restrictions at the site were removed. At the moment, there are in all fifteen tower cranes and two Mammoet-type special cranes in operation at the site. Temporary dismantling of a crane does not affect the construction work because other cranes nearby can replace the dismantled crane.
