A solemn ceremony dedicated to the delivery of the first batch of nuclear fuel for the first nuclear power plant in Turkey was held at the Akkuyu NPP construction site. This historic event marks the entry of the Republic of Turkey into the community of countries developing nuclear generation technologies on their territory.
Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, and Recep Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey, took part in the ceremony via videoconference, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the IAEA, Fatih Donmez, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Alexey Likhachev, Director General of ROSATOM, Anastasia Zoteeva, Chief Executive Officer of JSC AKKUYU NUCLEAR, and other official guests attended the event.

Construction of Akkuyu NPP Unit 3 Begins
A ceremony commemorating the start of Unit 3 construction was held at the site of the first Turkish nuclear power plant Akkuyu.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan joined the ceremony via videoconference. Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Donmez, ROSATOM Director General Alexey Likhachev and Akkuyu Nuclear JSC CEO Anastasia Zoteeva were present at the Akkuyu NPP site.
At the ceremony, the leaders of the two countries gave permission to start construction work by pouring the first concrete into the foundation of Unit 3. Speaking at the event, Alexey Likhachev noted that construction work was progressing rapidly.

The steel reactor baseplate with the total weight of 165 tons has been installed. The workers have also loaded into the reactor shaft the first part of the reactor vessel - the lower tier of the containment.
