Unit 3 of the Karachi nuclear power plant in Pakistan was successfully connected to the gird on March 4, laying a solid foundation for its commercial operation.
Karachi unit 3 is a Hualong One overseas demonstration project and the fourth Hualong One unit around the globe. Its connection to the grid means that all four Hualong One units at home and abroad have been connected to the grid.
It is part of the efforts jointly made by Chinese and Pakistani nuclear scientists to further deepen the comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership of both countries in the new era, commit to green and low-carbon development, and help achieve the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals around the globe.

Unit 2 of the Karachi nuclear power plant (K-2) in Pakistan was officially put into commercial operation on May 20, local time. Units 2 and 3 of the Karachi nuclear power plant, both overseas Hualong One demonstration projects, are major innovative achievements for China nuclear industry in terms of realizing its independence. The first overseas Hualong One (HPR1000) nuclear unit - Unit 2 of the Karachi nuclear power plant in Pakistan - was successfully connected to the power network for the first time on March 18 local time.
It is a major milestone in the overseas construction of the Hualong One reactors, a third-generation reactor independently developed by China; on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Pakistan diplomatic relationship, this also represents a remarkable outcome of the two countries consolidating and deepening their all-weather strategic partnership of cooperation, and of their promoting Sino-Pakistan nuclear energy collaboration.
